PRIVACY POLICY
Last updated: August 2026
In short: we collect only what we need to respond to you, we never sell or rent your information, and we do not share the contents of a form you submit with anyone outside the organization.
Who we are
Share the Signal is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization providing grooming awareness and prevention education. This policy covers information collected through this website.
Information you give us
We only collect what a form asks for. Depending on which form you use, that may include:
- Your name, email address and, optionally, a phone number.
- Your organization, role, location and organization type.
- Details relevant to your request, such as event dates, estimated book quantities, partnership interest, or the substance of your question.
- Your email address if you subscribe to updates.
How we use it
We use your information to do the thing you asked us to do, and not much else.
- To respond to your inquiry, quote, application or question.
- To send you resources or updates if you asked for them.
- To keep internal records of our own work and scheduling.
What we do not do
Some commitments are easier stated as negatives:
- We do not sell, rent or trade your information.
- We do not share the contents of a submitted form with third parties.
- We do not use the details of a concern you describe for marketing of any kind.
- We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
Information collected automatically
Like most websites, ours may record standard technical information such as browser type, device type, referring page and general location, along with which pages were visited. We use this only in aggregate, to understand which resources people are actually finding useful.
We do not use this information to build advertising profiles.
Third-party services
Some parts of this site rely on outside services that have their own privacy policies:
- Donations are processed by PayPal. We never see or store your payment card details.
- Book purchases happen on Amazon, under Amazon’s terms and privacy policy.
- Embedded video is served by YouTube in privacy-enhanced mode.
- This site is hosted on WordPress.com, which processes technical and traffic data under its own privacy policy.
How long we keep it
We keep inquiry and application records as long as they are useful to the relationship, and financial records as long as required for nonprofit reporting. You can ask us to delete your information at any time and we will, except where we are legally required to retain it.
Security
We limit access to submitted information to the people who need it to respond, and we use reasonable safeguards to protect it. No online transmission is perfectly secure, so please do not send sensitive details about a specific child through a web form. Contact us and we will point you to the right reporting route.
Your choices
You are in control of the information you give us.
- You can unsubscribe from emails using the link in any message.
- You can ask what we hold about you, and ask us to correct or delete it.
- You can browse and use every free resource on this site without giving us any information at all.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle information, we will update this page and the date at the top. Material changes will be noted plainly rather than buried.
Questions about this policy, or a request to access or delete your information? Contact us and we will respond.
